Dharmasthala: Seeking Clemency from Lord for Mistakes Not Wrong: Yeddy
Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (SP)
Beltangady, Aug 16: There are rumours in the air that former Chief Minister (CM) of the state, B S Yeddyurappa, was at Dharmasthala here to seek to absolve himself of the ill-effects and divine wrath, if any, he had earned on account of his declaration to take divine oath about his innocence at Dharmasthala, and then withdrawing it.
As if to prove the rumour mongers true, Yeddyprappa said that a person who seeks clemency from the deity for his past mistakes cannot be termed as a sinner.
People had been claiming that Yeddyurappa lost his seat as he had earned the ire of the Lord for dragging Him into political arena. After Yeddy made plans twice to visit Dharmasthala immediately after his removal, many believed that he would be visiting the temple here to seek liberty from the sins by offering prescribed money as penalty. However, it is learnt that Yeddyurappa, as per custom, has not been the target of the Lord’s anger, as he had not taken any religious vow here.
Yeddyurappa arrived at Dharmasthala from Sringeri on Monday night. When the media persons tried to raise the issue of religious vow, Yeddy refused to field any questions. He said he had not gone ahead with the procedure of taking religious vow in the presence of the presiding deity of Dharmasthala temple, Lord Manjunatheshwara, because of the insistence of the seniors. “I have been regularly visiting temples and seeking blessings from the gods to give me strength to continue to strive for removing the hardships of the people,” he clarified.
Before paying obeisance to Lord Manjunatheshwara here, Yeddyurappa visited Naravi Basadi, Lord Sooryanarana Temple, Aladangadi Sri Somanatheshwari Temple, Satyadevata Daivasthana, Laila Lord Raghavendra Swamy Temple in Belatangady, Ujire Sri Janardana Swamy Temple and Marigudi, while arriving here from Sringeri. A number of people accompanied him during these visits, and at every prayer centre, prayers were offered seeking the divine blessings for freeing Yeddyurappa of the problems he is currently facing.
Water resources minister, Basavaraj Bommai, whip, Jeevaraj, deputy speaker of assembly, Yogish Bhat, MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC, Capt Ganesh Karnik, Nagaraj Shetty, Padmanabh Kottary, zilla panchayat president, Shylaja Bhat, Rukmaya Poojary, Pratapsimha Nayak, and several other leaders were present.
‘People Will Pass Judgment on me Through Rallies’ - Yeddyurappa
Yeddyurappa expressed his unhappiness about the functioning of the Lokayukta and said that he will let the people judge his actions, by organizing huge rallies at all the district centres to explain about the achievements of his government, and prove his innocence in the cases against him.
“I will confess before the people my position. Was I wrong in enforcing a blanket ban on illegal mining in Karnataka? I will question people what wrong I had done. Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, and state party chief, K S Eshwarappa, will be by my side at these rallies,” he explained.
He said that the purpose of organizing these rallies will be to enable the people to listen to his version and judge for themselves whether he was wrong. “At these rallies, I will also seek popular support to D V Sadananda Gowda. I will make people understand that I am innocent. I am confident that the people will pass their verdict as to how far I am responsible for the allegations listed out by the Lokaykta. At the same time, I will continue to fight court cases towards proving me not guilty. I am confident in proving that the allegations against me are baseless,” he added.
He said that both the JD(S) and the Congress have been creating bottlenecks for the development initiatives undertaken by the BJP government since its inception.
About the allegations made against him by JD(S) state president, Kumaraswamy, he said he does not deem it necessary to go on countering these irresponsible allegations. He claimed that the government had already taken into possession a hundred acres of land illegally encroached by the family of former Prime Minister, Deve Gowda.
