Udupi, Sep 21: Alternative arrangements for free dialysis have been made for poor patients at Adarsha Hospital and Dr T M A Pai Hospital following irregularities at the Udupi district hospital, said Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Udupi dialysis centre and holding discussing with staff and hospital officers, he said that only one dialysis machine is available in the hospital at present due to government’s negligence though 10 such machines were available in the past.
"Staff members are leaving jobs without proper salaries. The matter has been brought to the notice of officers and the minister. The government is playing with the lives of poor patients. Nearly 43 patients arrive for treatment here per week. I have given a 15-day deadline to the government to fix the problems at Udupi women’s and children’s hospital. Mass protests will be held otherwise," he warned.
"I feel sad when I see the problems of poor people. Some patients need to undergo dialysis thrice a week to avoid risk to their lives, said MLA Yashpal Suvarna.
