Mangaluru, Sep 25: The Commission for Family, Commission for Youth & Commission for Social Communication of St Joseph the Worker Church, Neermarga organized an anti-drug abuse awareness programme on Sunday, September 24 at St Joseph Kala Bhavan, Neermarga.

Clara D’Cunha, founder and managing trustee of TeLoCa (Tender Loving Care) Mangalore Charitable Trust was the resource person who with her in depth knowledge and practical experiences, emphasized the importance of parents spending quality time with their children and being mindful of preventing them from engaging in negative behaviors. Further she encouraged parents to maintain good communication with children and keep a watchful eye on behavioral changes if any, and on academic performance.

Parish priest Fr Paul Pinto in his message said that the parents’ role in this regard can’t be overemphasized. Random bag - checking is one of the disciplinary measures that teachers and parents can excersise. He added, We must all suffer one of the two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret/disappointment.

Rashmi Mascarenhas, member of Family Commission welcomed the gathering and Anitha Lobo, convenor of Social Communication conveyed vote of thanks. Prasad Vas, convenor of Youth Commission compered the programme.
