I think these thefts are done by construction workers from Bijapur. you see them everywhere in Mangalore due to heavy road and housing construction. I was in a flat near Kambala road and saw them stealing water, mangoes, and jack fruit from apartment complexes. They keep an eye on buildings all the time. They do have knowledge of local areas and some even work as maids. I was wondering about the Gurkas we used to have in the 60s and 70s! What ever happened to them!!!

I am guessing inside hand in this series burglary....Anyway during the rainy season these kinds of incidents are frequent. Therefore victims has take care of the valuables before going away from home even for one day.On the other hand Gold prices are skyrocketing on daily basis so looking for gold by burglars are quite common for fast bucks.

Organized burglary has got a foothold into even remote DK now! Gangs from neighboring districts and states with know how of the local language and topography seem to be the culprits. Without specific knowledge of cash and jewelery being kept in the house, they would not have zeroed in on these houses and that too in a secluded environment. It should be easy for our efficient policemen to nab the burglars!! I would advise all not to keep large amounts of cash and jewelery in the house, rather keep it safe in bank lockers as this is an invitation for trouble!!
