Lucknow, Aug 24: As the Vice-Chancellor (V-C) of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Prof P K Abdul Azis is nearing the completion of his tenure, the controversies are multiplying for him. The latest being that name of his son has cropped up in the student's clash over North-South divide at Mallapuram centre of AMU. Besides, this Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) also has seized his power refraining him from taking any policy matter.

On the other hand, the AMU administration remained admanant claiming that name of V-C Prof Azis son Adil Azis has been unnecessarily dragged in the regional clash between students of North and South India at Mallapuram cente. The students clash on August 10 left one studentseriously injured while police case was registered.

As per reports, two group of students Boys Hostel at AMU Malappuram Centre had a heated arguements over distribution of Iftar items among students finally physical injury to four students of MBA, Mohammed Rafi, Yunish Kumar, Shabeeb and Adnan. It is reported that V-C's son Adil Azis also a MBA student was also involved in the clash.  Mohammed Rafi was hit with a stick by Yunish Kumar resulting serious head injury. He was hospitalized; three stitches were made on his head. Later after V-C Prof Azis dispatched his emissary Prof HSA Yahya of Department of Wildlife Sciences to settle the score and conduct an internal enquiry the matter was settled. Mohammed Rafi agreed to withdraw the police case which he had filed against Yunish Kumar.

Countering the allegation Mohammed Kumail had also initiated a case against Mohammed Rafi which he withdrew. Surprisingly, Prof Yahya in his report categorically stated that Adil Azis, a MBA student, was unnecessarily dragged in this issue whereas the fact is that he was busy in persuading the students to be peaceful and calm during the entire incident. "He acted quite maturely and tried to pacify the fighting groups. During my almost one week interaction with the students, cooks of the Hostel, Care taker of the Hostel, and other eye witnesses of the incidence no one reported any wrong doing by Adil Azis," said Prof Yahya. The students also gave an undertaking on stamp paper for mature behaviour and not indulge in violence.

Meanwhile, as V-C Prof Azis was relaxing after givign clean chit to his son a letter from MHRD acted as a spoiler. The MHRD has sent a letter to the Registrar asking the Vice Chancellor, Prof. PK Abdul Azis to refrain from exercising his powers to conduct any Selection committee, make any promotions or take policy decision of long time inferences. Secretary, AMU Teachers' Association Prof S Mustafa  welcomed the decision and stated that it will curb the manipulatory practices by V-C.

However, AMU administration claimed that it is against the spirit of AMU. AMU PRO Rahat Abrar stated that it is violation of Section 13 Clauses (2 to 5) of the AMU Act.

The tenure of V-C Prof PK Abdul Azis will end on January 17 and the MHRD has urged him to start the process for selection of new V-C. Prof Azis has already faced two enquiries constituted by the President of India and presently facing a CBI enquiry for his alleged malpractices.

It is reported that CBI had asked a list of 43 filed to be provided to them for enquiry while AMU administration failed to provide all of them which further irked the CBI team and a strong worded letter was sent to AMU to submit the remaining filed.
