Mangalore: Remarkable Number of New Students this Academic Year: Kageri

Mangalore, Aug 27: The present academic year witnessed a momentous admission of students with timely distribution of books, uniforms and cycles to the students, said primary and higher education minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri.

He was speaking at the high school head teachers educational convention and awarding ceremony organized jointly by district administration, ZP, education department and Ramakrishna Mutt, Mangaladevi at the Mutt’s hall here on Saturday August 27.

He further added that Health Clubs formed in high schools throw extra focus on the health of children attending schools. Out of 155 Government high schools, 8 schools achieved 100 % result in last SSLC exam which is a good number. Already 700 schools were given aid from the Government that were formed before 1995. In the second phase 307 schools will be given aid facility. And later all the schools in the state will come under this purview, he informed. There is no problem of fund, he averred.

About implementation of Right to Education Act, he said the process is on, all state education ministers’ meeting has been already held. But it can not be borne by the state alone, fund needs to be released by the Central Government for the same, however the centre had not given clear consent for it, he said.

Minister Kageri noted transparency in education is his motto. However in CBSE schools donation is reported more, but Central Government has not given power to the state to take any action on them. At least the centre must allow the state to inspect on such school, he urged. A law against donation mess is underway, he said and added complaint on donation should be given, then only such evils can be curbed.

D H Shankaramoorthi, speaker, legislative council inaugurating the programme said that moral education should be included in the current syllabus of our education system. He expressed his happiness over recent development wherein youngsters understood the cause of Anna Hazare’s fight and voiced against corruption.

Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC welcomed. Swamy Jitakamanandaji Maharaj of Ramakrishna Mutt, Mangalore, Sri Nirbhayananda Saraswathi Swamiji of Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashrama, Gadag, Bijapur were present. MLA Yogish Bhat, ZP president K T Shailaja Bhat, MLA U T Khader among others were present.
