I am glad that Mangalore is awakening to clean the environment. I was distressed to see during my recent visit, somewhere close to Mangalore, a large swathe of area was covered with open garbage which was stinking so much that even travelling in a vehicle on the road was difficult. I wondered how could the surrounding area people be living in this condition. I hope the municipal corporation puts up a recycling or disposal plant to get rid of the garbage. If there is no scientific disposal system, there can never be clean environment.
