Mangalore: ‘Makkala Koota’ Inaugural Brings Young Talent to Fore

Mangalore, Aug 31: The inauguration of ‘Makkala Koota’ (children’s assembly), a sister concern of Balabharathi Academy, was held at Town Hall here on Wednesday August 31.
 
About 15 members of Makkala Koota below the age of 17 presented a special cultural variety programme much to the delight of art lovers. Singing, flute, and dance were part of the ‘jugalbandi’ held on the occasion.

Inaugurating the Makkala Koota in a unique way by handing over the idol of Lord Shree Krishna from the cradle to a member, S Ganesh Rao, president, Karavali Group of Colleges, Mangalore, said that this was a unique programme which gave a platform for the children to show their hidden talent at a time when the tendency is to gravitate towards Western culture is an activity that revives the tradition and ethics of this nation.
 
Deputy mayor Geetha Nayak released a karaoke music CD composed by children. Captain Ganesh Karnik, MLC, felicitated the talented children. A moral drama ‘Singa-Singi Samsara’ directed by K V Raman was staged. Harikrishna Punaroor, former president, Kannada Sahithya Parishat, presided.
 
Vivek Alva, managing trustee, Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, released a CD of ‘Shlokas’ meant for Bharathanatyam students. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president, DK district Kannada Sahithya Parishat, delivered the vote of thanks.
