Sensex in Red in Morning Trade


Mumbai, Sep 5 (IANS):A benchmark index for Indian equities markets Monday was trading about 180-odd points lower in morning trade as traders booked profits after a rally last week.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 16,678.34 points was ruling 16,639.29 points, down 182.17 points or 1.08 percent from its previous close at 16,821.46 points.

The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading in the red, 1.17 percent down at 4,981.05 points.

Broader markets were also ruling lower. The BSE midcap index was trading 0.55 percent lower, while the BSE small cap index was down 0.58 percent.
