Chikkamagaluru: Nicholas Social Welfare Society celebrates patron's day

Chikkamagaluru, Dec 7: In a gesture of compassion and community spirit, Nicholas Social Welfare Society, in collaboration with Yes We can youth organization, conducted a special event on December 6 at St Joseph's English Higher Primary School and High School. The event, held on the occasion of St Nicholas Day and in memory of the late Nicholas D'Souza, aimed to bring joy to over 1000 children.

Nicholas Social Welfare Society pays tribute to the late Nicholas D'Souza, a dedicated public servant and the first chairperson of Chikkamagaluru Town Planning Authority. His impactful contributions to the community were acknowledged with a gold medal and award from Pope John Paul II.

 

Shaun D'Souza, the youth icon and co-founder of Nicholas Social Welfare Society, along with Ronald Santhosh, members, and volunteers, spearheaded the event. The guest of honour, Fr Marcel Pinto, secretary of St Joseph's English Higher Primary School and High School, Chikkamagaluru, added grace to the occasion.

Shaun D'Souza expressed heartfelt thanks to Fr Marcel Pinto for his unwavering support and positive impact on the lives of St Joseph's students. Shaun shared inspiring stories about his grandfather, Nicholas D'Souza, who selflessly helped the needy, spreading joy and love by distributing chocolates and sweets to children.

Shaun also took a moment to remember Dr B R Ambedkar's death day, emphasizing the profound impact individuals can have on millions of lives. He encouraged everyone to extend help to those in need and make a conscious effort to positively influence the lives of others.

Fr Marcel Pinto felicitated Shaun D'Souza, acknowledging his exemplary work and inspiring journey. He highlighted Shaun's dedication to his alma mater and his commitment to conducting events and donation campaigns for underprivileged children. Fr Marcel Pinto urged children to study well, support their parents, and spread joy in their communities. The event, attended by headmaster Puttaswamy and principal Nirmala D'Souza, was a joyous and safe gathering, adhering to COVID-19 safety measures.

Nicholas Social Welfare Society, dedicated to education, empowerment, and community engagement, actively promotes Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through awareness campaigns, skills development, and resource augmentation.
