Udupi: Sand crisis intensifies – Member of committee resigns

Udupi, Dec 7: Construction of houses of thousands of poor people in the district are stopped half way due to non-availability of sand in the district.

Guruprasad Shetty, one of the member of the seven-member sand committee tendered his resignation for the post.

In addition, building construction sector also is facing severe hardship. Though public, various organizations and labourers have given countless appeals, held many protests there is no positive response from the government.

In the wake of this situation, as the Udupi district administration has failed to cater to the sand demand of the people of Udupi, Guruprasad Shetty said that he is tendering his resignation for the membership of the seven-member sand committee of the district. This information was given in a press statement by Guruprasad Shetty.
