Haveri: Dog donates blood to save ailing canine

Daijiworld Media Network – Haveri (MS)

Haveri, Dec 11: A dog became a model to human beings by donating blood in order to save the life of another dog, which was sick.

There are many among us, who never donate blood even when asked to do so in emergency situation. However, Siri was taken to the veterinary hospital, donated blood and saved the life of Rocky, who was suffering from sickness.

Rocky, pet dog of Nagaraj Gollara, resident of Hullatti village of Haveri district needed blood in order to survive. Though many dogs were tested for blood none matched the blood group of Rocky. Hence, a request was put on social media asking pet dog owners to contact if they are interested to donate the blood of their dog.

Ranjita, resident of Bommanahalli responded positively and took her dog Siri to Akki Aloor hospital of Hanagal taluk of Haveri district. Luckily the group of Siri matched with Rocky.

Siri became the first dog that donated blood in India. The blood transfer was done by Sneha Maitri Blood Army team of Akki Aloor. The vet said that Rocky will recover soon.
