Kundapur: Gangarati Pooja of Jambukeshwara reminds Varanasi

Kundapur, Dec 11: Gangarati Utsav was held in grand manner for Bhagirathi at Sri Jambukeshwara temple premises of Japti village of the taluk, which is famous as second Varanasi of India.

Jambukeshwara temple is also called as the second Gokarna of coastal region. Various religious programmes were held on account of Kartika month under the guidance of Dr Venkatram Udupa, owner of Kartik scanning centre of the town.

Special pooja for Lord Jambookeshwara, Mahakala Bhairava Bhasmarchane and Ganga pooja were held from 5 pm on Sunday. Devotees recited Shivashtottara chants with spatika Linga and Bhasma. Vedamurthy Chennakeshava Bhatta led the various religious programmes that were held till 9 pm.

Hundreds of devotees who took part in the programme lighted lamp to the sacred river and recalled Ganga Mata. Later all floated the lighted aratis kept on arecanut leaves in the river and the pooja got over.
