Mangaluru: South Canara Coconut Farmers Producer Co launches 'Kalpavikasa Yojana' scheme for farmers

Media release

Mangaluru, Dec 12: South Canara Coconut Farmers Producer Company has launched "Kalpavikasa Yojana", a scheme designed for farmers to increase value-addition and productivity of coconut tree.

Purpose

Though the coconut crop is an important crop throughout Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district, the farmers are distraught as they do not get fair compensation for the coconut trees damaged by natural calamities, diseases and attacks by elephants.

In this regard the “Kalpavikasa Yojana” has been launched and the main goal is to focus on the purchase of unproductive coconut trees and their revival.

Coconut revitalisation

Beneficiary farmers will be given adequate agricultural information of coconut crop along with supply of coconut saplings and necessary fertilizers with emphasis on coconut regeneration.

Financial support

The organisation has decided to purchase eligible non-productive coconut trees for value-addition under this scheme and the farmers can get a maximum compensation of Rs 2,000 after checking their unproductive and naturally damaged trees.

Implementation details

Registration: Online registration for Kalpavikasa Yojana has already started and the last date is December 23.

Farmers can register themselves in the scheme free of charge through QR code and website link given below. Farmers are requested to utilise this unique opportunity to revive their coconut farming practices and adopt new avenues for empowerment.
