Renaming of Belagavi, Hubballi airports under govt consideration - H K Patil

Belagavi, Dec 13: Airports of Hubballi and Belagavi are to be renamed after Sangolli Rayanna and Veera Rani Kittur Chennamma respectively if the state government goes ahead with the proposal.

Karnataka Law and Paliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil told in the ongoing state legislative assembly session in Belagavi on Wednesday that the state government would consider the demand for renaming of the two airports.

Members cutting across party lines supported the demands by Congress members Srinivas Mane and Kona Reddy as well as BJP member Aravind Bellad that the state government should initiate the proposal for renaming of the two airports at the earliest.

Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development Minister M B Patil too assured the house of taking measures to adopt a resolution in this regard by both the houses after discussing the issue with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
