Mangaluru, Dec 14: In a startling revelation, it has been uncovered that two individuals utilized counterfeit Aadhar cards to stand as sureties for bail in 19 cases across Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Bengaluru.

The accused in this fraudulent scheme are identified as Umarabba Mohinuddin (50), a resident of Chandranagar in Kalathur, Udupi district, and Moyiddin Nasir (46), a resident of Kasaba Bengre.

Umarabba's involvement came to light when he provided surety for the bail of Rafiq, Saramma, and Ayesha Banu, accused in a POCSO case, in the additional district and sessions court of the city on October 30. However, further investigation revealed that on July 26, 2022, Umarabba had submitted bail surety using Aadhar cards with different numbers. A thorough examination of records exposed that he had used fake Aadhar cards to secure bail in 14 cases.

Similarly, Moyiddin Nasir's role was brought to light when he provided bail surety on November 6. Upon scrutiny, it was discovered that he had utilized counterfeit Aadhar cards and RTC (Record of Rights, Tenancy, and Crops) documents to stand as surety in five cases.

If there is a system to quickly match thumb finger print with aadhar card presented by the person with adhar database then only all problems can be resolved. Otherwise all waste of effort by aadhar project. All the sensitive places should have thus system in place. That is the only way to ensure that aadhar card used is his own or her own!
