Kaup, Dec 14: The final rites of Leeladhar Shetty and his wife Vasundhara Shetty took place on the evening of December 13 in Kaup. The bodies were transported in an open vehicle from Kaup junction to Majur school grounds, marking the beginning of the heart-wrenching ceremony.

Thousands of mourners participated in the final rites, reflecting the widespread impact and connections of the departed couple within the community. The Majur school grounds served as a space for public viewing, allowing thousands to come together to pay their last respects.

As a sign of collective grief and respect, all shops and business establishments in Kaup and Majur were closed from the afternoon, emphasizing the unity of the community in mourning. The ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent figures, including Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, former MLAs Lalaji R Mendon and Vinay Kumar Sorake, and various political and social leaders who joined in the proceedings to offer their condolences and support to the grieving family and community.
