Mangaluru, Dec 17: The Moolageni Vokkalu Rakshana Vedike, which started with the members of only 25 families in 2008, has now grown to a strength of 3500 members and yet millions of victims are waiting in the background with a doubt of implementation of the law.

The order that was issued by the Government of Karnataka in 2011 was stayed by some of the Mulidars through the High Court of Karnataka. The High Court of Karnataka, after listening to the detailed arguments of applicants and plaintiffs, issued a judgment in favour of government of Karnataka and the Moolagenidars.

The High Court judgment clearly states that Muldars are having the right only to collect the revenue of the land from those people who have been enjoying the possession of the land continuously during the British governance after the end of Vijayanagara dynasty and they are not the owners of the land.

Muldars have appealed the judgment to the dual bench at High Court, Bengaluru and matter is pending in the court.

The Vedike has appealed to all the Moolagenidars to come forward and contribute generously to pay the fees of the advocates and thus reduce the financial burden which is levied on them.

"Due to the unrelentless struggle of 25 to 30 members, all the victims of mulageni have got their rights and could spend the rest of their lives in peace of mind," the Vedike said.
