Bengaluru, Mar 3: The BJP leaders lack common sense and are damaging the image of Karnataka for their selfish political gains, accused Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Sunday.
Speaking to media persons near his residence, he condemned the statement of BJP leaders claiming that that ‘Brand Bengaluru’ has become ‘Bomb Bengaluru’ and said no responsible political leader would harm the image and reputation of the city.
Shivakumar reminded the BJP leaders that they had ruled the State in the past, even if it was by manufacturing majority through the ‘’operation Kamala, and are presently ruling in the Centre cannot forget what had happened when they were in power be it in Karnataka and at the national level.
The deputy chief minister said the State Government has given complete freedom to the police to carry out investigations in the Bengaluru Rameswaram Café blast incident and the issue has been taken very seriously by the Government.
“I don’t want to comment on the investigations or make any remarks. The police are investigating from all angles,’’ he said declaring that the government is doing everything to maintain law and order, safety and security of the citizens as well as protecting the honour of the city.
Shivakumar criticised the state BJP leaders for politicising the incident for their selfish and political gains and thereby damaging the image and reputation of the city.
“BJP leaders must first look into the mirror. They should remember the incidents that took place when they were in power,’’ he said asserting that he would not make any comments affecting the unity, integrity and peace of the country.
He said “irresponsible persons with short-sightedness make wild and harmful statements that cause irreparable damage to the image of the city and the State.’’
“Will any sensible person say that Brand Bengaluru has become Bomb Bengaluru,’’ he asked reminding BJP what happened in the State when they were in power or under Prime Minister Narendra Modi rule in Delhi.
