Mangaluru, Mar 18: "The electoral bond case is the biggest scam in the world. Those who are involved in this are anti-nationals, not the ones who raise questions about it," said actor Prakash Raj.
Speaking to the media here on Monday, March 18, Prakash Raj took a dig at prime minister Narendra Modi, urging him to address the electoral bond issue in his 'Mann Ki Baat' and inform the public whether it was undertaken for the progress of the country. "Why were the electoral bond rules kept secret? The Prime Minister and Home Minister are lying," he stated. "As per the Home Minister, who said they brought 6000 crore electoral bonds, there are 300 MPs. If distributed, it will fall short, which is equal to looting banks and corruption."
He criticized the BJP for allegedly accepting electoral bonds from companies soon after conducting raids, without revealing the source of the bonds. Prakash Raj highlighted instances where electoral bonds were obtained from companies involved in significant projects, questioning the transparency of such transactions. He also raised concerns about the lack of investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into the BJP's receipt of funds.
Prakash Raj stated that he would not contest in the upcoming elections, preferring to stand with the people and voice their concerns. He emphasized the importance of citizens questioning those in power, asserting that it is their right as taxpayers. Responding to queries about election candidates in Mysuru, Prakash Raj emphasized the need for voters to evaluate candidates based on their individual merits rather than their party affiliation. He criticized exit polls, alleging that they are influenced by monetary incentives and biased media affiliations.
Asserting that he belongs to the people's party, Prakash Raj expressed his reluctance to join any political party or campaign.
"Isn't it egoistic of the PM to to say 'we will take 400 seats?' You cant take it. People are giving you the seats and its their decision. You have said the same thing in West Bengal, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Was it possible for you? When the public has't voted yet, how can you decide to win 400 seats? This is just to create a false image," said Prakash Raj.
