Kundapura, May 13: Unidentified thieves had on March 16 stolen 95 brass rings worth Rs 1 lac at Hakremani Yaksheshwari Prasada boat belonging to Srinivas Kharvi that was sanchored at the banks of Karkikali Edamani lake, Uppunda village, Byndoor police station limits. The rings were stolen by cutting the rope of the boat's net.
A complaint in this connection was filed with Byndoor police station.
A special team under the leadership of Dr Harsha Priyavanda, probationary IPS officer, raided Uppunda Karkikali and arrested accused who is identified as Mahesh Kharvi, Uppunda village, Byndoor on May 11 and recovered all the 95 brass rings worth Rs 1 lac from him.
The operation was conducted by Dr Harsha Priyavanda, a probationary IPS officer, Thimmesh B N, PSI, Mahesh Kambi PSI, Soora Naika ASI, Mahesh C Nagashree, crime division staffers Sujith Kumar and Malappa Desai, under the guidance of Belliappa K U, police ASP, Kundapura and Pavitra Tej, police circle inspector Byndoor under directions from additional SPs S T Siddalingappa and Parameshwar Hegde, Udupi.
Udupi SP Dr Arun K has congratulated the team which took part in the operation.
