Shivamogga: St Anthony's feast at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur

Shivamogga, Jun 14: Our Lady of Assumption Church Hiriyur, Chitradurga District, Diocese of Shimoga celebrated St Anthony's feast on June 13. Fr George K A, rector & parish priest of Our Lady of Health, Minor Basilica, Harihara blessed the St Anthony's 'Chariot'. Then together with Rosary faithful - a procession was taken around the Mary Road. After the procession people gathered in front of the church for the Novena. Fr Franklin D’Souza, parish priest of Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur led the Novena.

Festal Holy Eucharist began at 7:30 pm parish priest Fr Franklin D'Souza celebrated the Holy Eucharist together with Fr George K A, Fr Alvin Stanislaus - manager and correspondent of Lourdes Boys School, Davanagere & assistant parish priest Fr Paul Crasta.

Fr Franklin D'Souza in his homily spoke on call of god to witness the love of Jesus. "St Anthony became a testimony of love of Christ. He loved the word of god, the Eucharist and, he had great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. We are called not only to follow miracles but also have faith like him in Lord Jesus Christ," he said. He specially prayed for the faithful gathered.

After the Mass Out going parish priest Fr Franklin D'Souza, thanked sacristan Kanikya Raj for his valuable services during last six years of his ministry at Hiriyur.

Rector Fr George K A thanked Fr Franklin D’Souza for his valuable services to the faithful of Hiriyur.

Then Fr Franklin D'Souza thanked all those who contributed for the success of the feast.

Food was served for everyone.
