Bengaluru, June 30: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has promised to extend all help for the development of the Kannada film industry.
Speaking after inaugurating the new building of the Kannada Film Producers Association in Bengaluru on Sunday, he said the State Government has been extending help and support for the development of the Kannada film industry and promised to continue the policy.
He said he has rushed to Bengaluru last night itself after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the latter had given an appointment to meet him at 8 pm. “I rushed back to the city as I did not want to delay the inaugural function scheduled for Sunday,” he said.
Siddaramaiah said the Association has not asked for financial help for the construction of the building and it has been done by the film producers themselves through their Association. The government is always ready to help, he said.
Film City in Mysuru on PPP model
The chief minister said the State Government is committed to fulfilling the demand of Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar of establishing a film city in Mysuru.
“The Government has already provided 100 acres of land in Mysuru as establishing a film city in the State was the dream of the late Kannada film star,” he said, adding that: “The film city project is being taken up on a private-public-participation (PPP) model.”
On the demand of the Kannada film industry to create a platform for making available the “Over-the-top” (OTT) platform for marketing the films, he said the proposal will be examined and the government will take it up soon.
The chief minister said he has urged the prime minister to release the financial grants promised to Karnataka and also clear several pending proposals.
