Tulu movie ‘Dharma Daiva’ set for July 5 release, makers interact with media

Mangaluru, Jul 2: The Tulu movie ‘Dharma Daiva’, produced under the banner of Dharmadaiva Productions, is slated to hit theatres across the coastal districts on July 5. The film has already garnered positive feedback from audiences during its premiere shows in Pune and Mumbai.

Director Nitin Rai Kukkuvalli announced in a press conference on July 1 that the movie will be screened at Roopavani, Bharath Cinemas, PVR, and Cinepolis in Mangaluru; Cine Galaxy and Nataraj in Suratkal; Bharath Cinemas in Padubidri; Bharath Cinemas and Kalpana in Udupi; Inox and Bharath Cinemas in Manipal; Planet and Radhika in Karkala; Bharath Cinemas in Puttur; and Bharath Theatre in Beltangady.

Ramesh Rai Kukkuvalli, speaking at the event, said, “Many places in the undivided district of Dakshina Kannada are renowned for Daivaradhane and Nagaradhane rituals. Tulunadu and the Tulu language are celebrated across India and abroad. Cinema serves as a powerful and vibrant medium of communication. 'Dharma Daiva’, which portrays the essence and life of Tulunadu, focusing on the farmers and their connection to Daiva-Devaru, Nema, Kola, Thambila, and Nagaradhane-Daivaradhane, is set to hit the screens. We encourage Tuluvas to watch and support this film and its artists.”

Actor Chethan Rai Mani added, “The current generation is gaining recognition from organizations and elders by producing films that emphasize the lifestyle, beliefs, culture, and traditions of our ancestors. 'Dharma Daiva,' produced by the youth of Udupi, Mangaluru, and Puttur under the Dharmadaiva banner, has been approved by the Censor Board and will be released on July 5. The young producer Biliyoor Rakesh Bhojaraja Shetty has created this film with great devotion and dedication. Nitin Rai Kukkuvalli Nuliyalu has written and directed the film, which was shot in Karnur, Sullia, and Puttur over 25 days.”

The press conference was attended by producer Biliyoor Rakesh Bhojaraj Shetty, director Nitin Rai Kukkuvalli, Ramesh Rai Kukkuvalli, Chethan Rai Mani, and Arun Rai.

The screenplay and dialogues were penned by Hameed Puttur. The cinematography was done by Arun Rai Puttur, with music and background score composed by Nishan Rai Matantabettu, a disciple of renowned music director Arjun Janya. Lyrics were written by K K Pejawar and Sumant Bailadi. Renowned Yakshagana Bhagavath Patla Satish Shetty and Samanvi R Rai Nuliyalu are the playback singers. Editing was carried out by Radhesh Rai Modappadi and Srinath Pawar, with Charan Acharya as the co-editor. The title design was created by Nitin Kanavu. Costume design was handled by Satvika Nitin Rai Kunjadi and Manoj Kumar. Still photography was done by Abhi Poojar and Pranav Bhat, sound editing by Chidananda Kadaba, and TTS by Loy Valentine. The makeup artist was Kishore Uppinangady, and Sudhir Kumar Kalladka and Rakesh Shetty G contributed to the production.

The cast includes Ramesh Rai Kukkuvalli, Deepak Rai Panaje, Chethan Rai Mani, Roopashree Varkadi, Dayananda Rai Bettampady, Bharath Shetty, Ravi Salian (Snehit), Sandeep Poojary, Pushparaj Bollar, Ranjan Bolar, Kaushik Rai Kunjadi, Deeksha D Rai, and Gratial Kaliyanda Kodagu.
