Bengaluru, Jul 3: Action on the alleged misuse of power in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) would be taken only after receiving the investigation report, declared Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
Speaking to media persons, the Chief Minister said the sites distributed by MUDA has been kept under suspension pending the investigation report.
“There is no loss to the government or MUDA,” he said mentioning that senior IAS officers have been asked to investigate the entire scam.
Siddaramaiah said the MUDA officials, who had distributed the sites have been kept under suspension.
Responding to a question on opposition BJP’s demand for a CBI probe, the Chief Minister said it has become a habit for BJP to demand CBI probe into all issues.
“Let BJP disclose how many times and on which issues, their government had ordered CBI probe,” he asked.
The Chief Minister explained that the BJP government had enacted a law for granting alternative sites to those whose lands had been acquired.
On the demand for his resignation on the issue by BJP leader R Ashok, he asked there is no need for his resignation as he had no role in the distribution of sites by MUDA.
“When BJP was in power and Ashok was accused of irregularities in Akrama-Sakrama issue, he had obtained bail from the court. Did he resign? Can anybody tender resignation merely because of BJP demand,” he asked.
Answering questions on the protests by BJP on the alleged Rs 187 crore scam in the Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation, the Chief Minister said the entire case has been entrusted to SIT for probe and the minister concerned, Nagendra, has already resigned.
The minister was asked to resign because the Corporation’s Superintendent had written a note before committing suicide that the minister had given oral instructions to the Managing Director to transfer funds.
CBI is probing the alleged irregularities in the misuse of funds by nationalised banks, he said.
