Mangaluru, Aug 5: The 58th anniversary of the St Christopher Driver and Owners’ Association was celebrated at the Rosario Cathedral.

Fr Leo Lasrado offered Mass and blessed the vehicles, with Fr Vinod Lobo as the co-celebrant. In the stage program that followed, Dr John Edward D’Silva presided. Ivan D’Souza, re-elected for the legislative constituency, and Jochim Stany Alvares, newly appointed president of Konkani Sahitya Academy, were felicitated.

After receiving their felicitations, Ivan and Jochim extended their greetings. Fr Alfred J Pinto, director of the association, Victor Joseph Menezes, honorary president, and Gerald D’Souza, joint secretary, were also present on the dais.

Sunil Peter Paul Lobo presented the yearly report, and John Baptist Gomes, vice president, presented the yearly balance sheet. Scholarships and Pratibha Puraskar were awarded to brilliant students. The executive committee for the next year was formed, and Nigil Pereira compered the event.
