Udupi: YCS Kundapur deanery organizes inspiring beginners' camp

Udupi, Aug 5: The Young Catholic Students (YCS) Kundapur Deanery hosted a successful beginners camp on Sunday, August 4, at St Mary’s College Hall, Kundapur.

The program kicked off with a prayer service led by YCS members from the Kundapur unit. Master Rayan Lobo, YCS Kundapur Deanery president, extended a warm welcome to the 90 enthusiastic first-year PUC students who participated in the camp.


 

The event was inaugurated by the symbolic lighting of a lamp, signifying the YCS movement’s mission of spreading light and knowledge. Fr Paul Rego, dean of Kundapur Deanery, delivered an inspiring address, followed by a motivational message from Fr Roy Lobo, the Deanery YCS/ICYM director.

Ishney Fernandes, Kallianpur YCS Deanery president, led an engaging ice-breaking session to energize the young participants. Fr Steevan Fernandes, the ”iocesan Chaplain of YCS YSM, provided valuable insights into the history and methodology of the YCS movement.

Further enriching the camp were sessions led by Calvin Crasta, Jeshma Dsouza, and Rayan Lobo from the Diocesan Council. These sessions focused on the YCS structure, vision, aim, objectives, and rules, providing a comprehensive understanding of the movement for the new members.

YCS Kundapur Deanery council expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Fr Steevan Fernandes and the Diocesan Executive Committee for their guidance and support throughout the event.

The camp concluded on a high note with the YCS Anthem and claps, training and instilling in young minds the spirit of self-improvement and the power to positively influence others.

This beginners camp served as a springboard for the new PUC students to embark on their journey with YCS, fostering their faith and equipping them to become active members of the Catholic community.
