Udupi, Aug 7: Chetana men’s group on the occasion of the first anniversary of their establishment, organized 'Gadyanth Ek Dees – 2024' on Sunday, August 4, in the paddy field of 'Jeevan Jyothi' compound Kanajar.
Fr Harold Pereira, the parish priest of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Kanajar was the president of the function. Fr Harold Pereira in his presidential speech, spoke about the role of men in the society. Then he highlighted the inspiring works of Chetana men’s group and its contribution for the betterment of families and the development of the society at large.
Eliza D’Souza, Jeevan Jyothi Niwas inaugurated the sports event of 'Gadyanth Ek Dees – 2024'. Alton Rebero, president of men's mistrict federation, Udupi was the chief guest of the function. He in his address congratulated the men's group for their initiatives to mark the anniversary of the group and wished them best of luck in the future. Stanley Fernandes, coordinator of Sampada Udupi spoke on the importance of environment and our duty to safeguard it amidst development. He further stated that being with nature gives peace of mind and one could maintain good health. Mabel Nazareth, coordinator of 20 commissions of Kanajar parish and Fr Joel Aranha were present on the dais.
Antony Miranda, the president of chetana men's group welcomed the gathering.
Men's district federation secretary, Edwin Mendonca conducted the sports events with the help of Rakshit Shetty and Nelson Machado.
Chetana men’s groups treasurer, Wilson Noronha looked after the fixtures for the sports events and announced the names of sponsors and donors, secretary Ronald Nazareth gave vote of thanks.
Many games were conducted for different age categories and the parishioners participated in huge numbers and enjoyed the games. Cash prizes were distributed to the winners by Antony Miranda, Anitha Quadros secretary of parish pastoral council, and Mabel Nazareth, coordinator of commission for social development of Kanajar parish.
Prakash Martis and George D'Sa were the masters of the ceremony.
More than 550 people participated in this event and made it a memorable event of the year 2024.
