Jodhpur, Nov 10 (IANS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Thursday questioned sacked Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna over his alleged involvement in the case of missing nurse Bhanwari Devi.
"The CBI is questioning Maderna in the Bhanwari Devi missing case. He is being questioned in Jodhpur where a CBI investigating team is camping," a CBI official told IANS in Delhi.
Bhanwari Devi had gone missing from Jodhpur's Bilara area Sep 1. On Oct 16, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot sacked Maderna from the cabinet over allegations that he had a role in her disappearance as she had started blackmailing him on the basis of a CD showing both in a compromising position.
Rajasthan's opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called for a "transparent investigation" in the case.
"This is an issue concerning all of society. Those who are responsible in this case should be rounded up," added BJP's Rajasthan unit president Arun Chaturvedi.
The CBI had also rushed a team to Rajasthan's Ajmer city following reports that Bhanwari Devi had a bank locker there and the CD could have been hidden in it.
Bhanwari Devi had mentioned a CD hidden in a bank locker in Ajmer in one of the two audio clips that surfaced Nov 3-4.
