Bantwal: Madiwala community organises 'Kesardonji Day-24'

Bantwal, Aug 11: The Madiwala Society Service Association (R) Kanduru, Madiwala Youth Association, and Bantwal Women’s wing, in collaboration with the Dakshina Kannada District Madiwala Association (R) Mangaluru, organized the "Kesardonji Day-24" event at the Kesaru Gadde (muddy field) near B C Road on Sunday, August 11.

Sri Mukthananda Swamiji of the Shrikarinje Shrine inaugurated the event and offered his blessings. He praised the progress of the Bantwal Madiwala community and its achievements in various fields. He also suggested that the Madiwala Society consider adding 'Vas' to their name, thereby becoming 'Madiwalvas' in the future.

Sri Mukthananda Swamiji emphasised the importance of preserving traditional values while strengthening and maintaining Tulu culture. He noted that organising such annual events helps reinforce the connection between the community and agriculture.

The event was presided over by B N Prakash, president of the DK District Madiwala Association. Key attendees included entrepreneurs Uday Salian of Ajjadi, Dharmendra Ganeshpur, Sudhakar Putran, Praveen N Bangera of Hubballi, Ramesh Bangera, contractor K Vishwanath, lawyer Sadanand Salian, and Puttur Municipal Council member Prem Kumar.

Various taluk presidents of the association were also present, including Satish Kukundoor, Kavitha Harish Valpadi, Sreedhar Pilathabetu, Sadashiva Hosadurga, Lokesh Sulya, Sampath Kondan, and honorary president of the Bantwal Taluk Madiwala Society, N K Shiva Nandavar. Youth Association president Sandesh Koyil and Women’s wing president Shobha Panjikallu also attended.

The event honoured prominent community members, including retired Indian Army Subedar junior commissioned officer Umesh Salian of Hiriyadka, renowned actor Shanil Guru of Kantara fame from Bantwal, and basketball player Sanket S Hosabetu.

Yogi Kalasadka, the honorary advisor of the Bantwal Taluk Madiwala Society, welcomed the guests. Vice-president Pushparaj Kukkeji made the proposal, president Harish Mankade gave the vote of thanks, and Venkatesh Ananthaadi hosted the event.

Following the ceremony, the traditional Kambala race was inaugurated, marking the beginning of various sports events.
