MLA Yashpal Suvarna appeals to KSCA president for construction of cricket stadium in Udupi

Media Release

Udupi, Aug 17: MLA Yashpal Suvarna has requested Raghuram Bhat, president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), to support the development of an international standard cricket stadium in Udupi. The appeal was made during a meeting at the KSCA office in the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Suvarna highlighted the pressing need for a top-tier cricket facility in the Udupi district, citing the lack of adequate infrastructure for local cricket talent. "Constructing an international standard stadium in Udupi would greatly benefit aspiring cricketers in the region," he emphasised.

He also noted that several government-owned plots in the Udupi Assembly constituency have already been earmarked for the stadium project. Suvarna urged Bhat to visit Udupi soon, identify suitable land, and grant approval for the construction.

In addition, Suvarna appealed to the central government for special support, pointing out that the Sports Department has initiated plans for developing sports infrastructure, including stadiums. He requested that the Udupi stadium be included in these plans, with the central government’s cooperation facilitating the project.
