'Don 2' in Trouble for Copyright Infringement

Mumbai, Nov 14: Trouble is not willing to stay off Shah Rukh Khan's back. This time, his joint venture with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani ‘Don 2’ is in a legal mess regarding a copyright issue.

The allegation against ‘Don 2’ has come from production house Nariman Films that produced the original 1978 ‘Don’ starring Amitabh Bachchan.

Nariman Films have alleged that Excel Entertainment, headed by Farhan and Rithesh, only had the copyright to remake the original which was done in 2006 with ‘Don: The Chase Begins’. It is learnt that the agreement for the remake expired in 2009 and was not renewed by the company.

A legal notice has been issued to Excel Entertainment for the infringement of copyright.

On the other hand, Nariman Films claim that they had registered the title ‘Don 2: Return of the King’ and as the posters of ‘Don 2’ say ‘The King is back’, it is not exactly an infringement.

Nariman Films is likely to approach the court to withhold the release of the movie on Christmas.

While Excel Entertainment have rubbished the allegation, they maintain that the story is a totally different one and has nothing to do with the 1978 movie.

    Again he is doing publicity stunts to promote his movie Don 2 .Why to watch inferior quality over hyped ,(high marketing like Ra-one)
    fooling people ,low quality special effects of DON 2(didn't got lesson
    from RA-one ? ) better to watch Mission Impossible 4 which is 1000
    time better quality , action , Budget (850 crore )
