Bantwal, Aug 21: Kuriya Gopalakrishna Shastri, a prominent Yakshagana organiser and patron, passed away on August 21 due to a heart attack. He was 65.

Shastri was part of the renowned Kuriya Vithala Shastri family, known for their contributions to Yakshagana.

 

He is survived by a son and a daughter.

Gopalakrishna Shastri served as the Gurikkar of the Kuriya Havyaka unit, the honorary president of the Swarna Bhiksha Utsav, and the president of the Kolyur Havyaka zone, successfully handling various responsibilities in these roles.
