Kundapur, Aug 22: In a significant development for train passengers, the Railway Board has initiated the process of fitting LHB (Long Haul Mode) coaches to the Matsyagandha Express train. This decision follows a petition by Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Shrinivas Poojary and recent concerns over the train's seating capacity. The move aims to enhance passenger comfort and safety on this vital route.

After the MP’s intervention, which included meetings with railway ministers and discussions about the train's seating issues, the Konkan Corporation and South Railway, along with the Railway Board, have been urged to expedite the coach upgrade.

Technical discussions are now underway with South Railway, Konkan Railway, and Central Railway to finalise the installation of the new LHB coaches.

To facilitate this upgrade, ticket booking for the Matsyagandha Express train will be suspended 120 days in advance due to changes in the booking system.

The MP is closely overseeing the process, with assurances that all necessary arrangements will be made to ensure a safe and comfortable journey for passengers traveling between the coast and Mumbai.
