Kingfisher Not Shutting Shop, Clarifies Vijay Mallya

Mumbai, Nov 15 (PTI): Battling financial crisis, Kingfisher Airlines chairman Vijay Mallya on Tuesday said he has not asked for a bailout from the government but wants the lenders to help with Rs 700-800 crore working capital as short-term need and interest concessions.

Facing all-round attack from political parties which are opposing any bailout for his airline, Mallya said, "We have not asked for any bailout from government. We have not asked the government to dip into the taxpayers' money. We have never done it, we will never do it."

After announcing the second quarter results, which showed a loss of Rs468.66 crore, he told a press conference that "we are in dialogue with banks to open Letters of Credit which can help us recover debt and repay our high cost rupee loans."

"We have not asked for a concession. We have not asked for a hair-cut. Our demands with the banks are mainly two-folds. One is to meet short-term capital needs which have gone up and concession on interest," he said.

The banks have not told him formally that "we should infuse capital. If there is requirement of recapitalisation or infusion of additional equity, we will consider it."

Mallya also said he has not sought any restructuring of the loan.

I am very optimistic that King Fisher Air Lines will come out of this temporary crisis and keep up the high standard of this airlines & run on profit making Company.

As this Shop requires some repair, definitely there will be some uneasyness wil prevail. But end of it, this Air Lines will come out from crisis and will run with profit. What Mr. U.B. Mallya chairman of this Kingfisher Airlines is fighting for FDA to Air Line Industry which is quite right.

My sincere wishes are with the King fisher managment for the speedy recovery.

Its great to hear that you have not asked for a bail out from the Government. But very sad to hear the cancellation of Mangalore flight to Mumbai/Delhi. In order to come out the loses you should have winded up the no profitable sectors. Why cant you get an approval ro operate direct flight to Mangalore to Dubai, so that you may earn more revenue and break the monopoly of Air India Express which is sucking the money of the people with bad service and high fares. I am a member of the King Club and i have enjoyed your flights from Dubai to Mangalore via Bangalore . We pray to God that you come out of the crisis at the earliest. Jai Fly Kingfisher

Well said Mr.Sivanarain,Bangalore.Very encouraging words which we hardly listen in the society.Mr.Mallya is a true business man and always a front runner either in the professional life or in the personal.Being a owner of number of profit making firms,if one unit is experienced loss will be a peanut for this guy.But good thing that being a private airline immediately he d the truth .This is nothing compared to Air India & many other Government undertaking firms which is running on public money. Pity is that even though it is public money common people Only will understand when the amount reaches some million crores scam.

I am glad Mr. Mallya came openly and told us the situation. Media makes mountain out of a molehill. I would say he is an able enterpreneur. When I travel I want to see more KFA flights on the information board like before. In future there won't be FLIGHT CANCELLED by KFA. He is a true business man, thinking profit and bringing employment to thousands of Indians and serving India. I am not boasting him but encouragement to emerging enterpreneurs is wrong? I am sorry for those pilots and grieving passengers and i am sure Mallya will set right whatever happened. As he said, even our PM is concerned as other like minded citizens. And ofcourse Kingfisher is a beutiful bird, literally. Good luck Mallya.

I feel that he should invite 51% to 65% MNC investments and reduce the risk burden to the bear minimum.
It is said the for a billioner to become a millioner he should start an airline industry.
