Mumbai, Jul 28: Tata Communications and Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) on Tuesday announced a strategic collaboration to offer a unified artificial intelligence (AI) platform stack aimed at accelerating AI adoption among small and medium businesses (SMBs).
The partnership seeks to address the growing demand for enterprise-grade AI solutions among smaller businesses by combining Tata Communications' cloud and AI capabilities with TTBS's extensive voice and connectivity infrastructure.
As part of the collaboration, the companies showcased an AI-powered voice agent integrated with dedicated fixed-line numbers. The solution is designed to handle customer interactions, respond to routine enquiries, schedule appointments and follow-ups, process orders, and provide personalised round-the-clock customer support.

The AI voice agents can also assist businesses in automating common customer services such as travel bookings and healthcare appointment scheduling, enabling faster response times and improved operational efficiency through natural language conversations.
Under the partnership, Tata Communications will provide Commotion, its conversational AI platform hosted on the Vayu AI Cloud, while TTBS will deliver the underlying voice infrastructure. The integrated platform will enable AI agents to securely access enterprise data through a unified network framework.
According to the companies, the solution is designed to reduce the complexity, cost and technical barriers that often prevent small and medium businesses from adopting enterprise-grade AI technologies.
Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tata Communications, said the partnership combines TTBS's strong SMB customer base with Tata Communications' expertise in cloud, AI and communications to help businesses adopt AI with greater confidence.
The companies also described the platform as a sovereign AI offering, enabling organisations to maintain greater control over their data, infrastructure and regulatory compliance while leveraging cloud-based AI services.
Beyond voice-based AI, Tata Communications and TTBS said they plan to expand the platform's capabilities and eventually extend the offering to international markets.
Tata Communications currently provides connectivity, cloud hosting, cybersecurity and media services across more than 190 countries and territories, while TTBS offers cloud, software-as-a-service, cybersecurity and digital solutions to businesses across India.
