Los Angeles, Nov 17: Google opened the much-awaited digital music store on Wednesday November 17. This comes as a new tool to battle Apple's iTune service on mobile devices.

Google will sell music on the Android market for the first time with its apps, movies and books market.

Songs are priced at free, 69 cents, 99 cents and $ 1.29.

Coldplay, Drake and Pearl John are some of the artistes whose music is available presently.

The songs will be automatically uploaded for free into a customer’s online locker. Customers can then stream this music over computer or mobile phone browser.

It can also stream with the Safari browser, which comes on Apple Inc devices.
