if mr.correa.. could enlighten us on the advantages of studying in a kannanda medium school, other than a possible chance at a govt. job in the state? i dont mean to offend the love for the language... science, research, technology are in either english, german, japanese or chinese.. not because they have DVS type leaders, but simply because, these countries are the founders and fountains of the aforementioned research and technological advances. Its important to save our native languages, but it is equally important that our people our kannada people are not denied the chances of modern education, modern trades and professions, just because some politician wants to score a brownie point. No offence intended.

Keeping a Kannada Medium school running for just 4-5 students per class is a joke and waste of public money. The teachers will not have a zest in teaching such few number of students and the students too will not have exposure to varieties as it happens in a high-strength-school. However, Kannada will still rule as it is a compulsory subject in Karnataka. However, the option is improve the standard and volume of English taught in Kannada Medium.

The ministers who swear on keeping Kannada Schools going, must answer the public as to how many of his/her children go to Kannada Medium School. The policy is just to use up education funds from the budget which gets swallowed up by the ministers, least is given to schools.

Merging of Kannada medium may be a short time solution. What happens if after merger of these schools, there are no children? Merge more schools? We need to go to the root cause of this problem. Most of the educated people have just one child or two children. They will ensure that these children are put in a English medium school, even though the schools are far and have to pay for the transport. So from where you will get children for Kannada medium schools.

More and more parents are sending their children to English medium schools. We need to change the mind set of the parents and put into their minds, the advantage of sending the children to Kannada medium schools, where they can also learn English as one of the subjects.

No shut down of Kannada medium schools...usual statement made by ministers. But the reality of these school is they will get closed by themselves. No child wants to go to a Kannada medium schools and no parent even dreams to sending them. Instead of enabling Kannada medium school efficiently prepare children even in English language the ministers just make statements. CM please go around and visit Govt.schools then such comments will not be made.
