Eighth day’s novena held at Our Lady of Health Minor Basilica, Harihara

Davanagere, Sep 6: Eighth day’s Novena was held at Our Lady of Health, Minor Basilica, Harihara, Davanagere District, Diocese of Shimoga. The Novena  began at 5:30 pm with rosary, procession and floral homages to Harihara Matha. Then Basilica rector and parish priest  Fr George K A led the Novena.

At 6:30 pm, Fr Stany D'Souza, rector of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Shivamogga offered the holy eucharist. He preached his homily on the theme: “Mother Mary the affectionate Mother."


In his homily he explained about the affection of God the Father towards his children and also the love of Blessed Mother Mary in the life of the faithful. He narrated the incident of Moses' birth and connected it to today's theme. He spoke about how Harihar was chosen by God to help the people and the power of the Lord Jesus is working through her.

Fr Alvin Stanislaus, Fr William Prabhu OFM CAP, Fr Prashanth Kumar OFM CAP, Fr Ronald Furtado OCD, Fr George Lobo, Fr Venil D'Silva, Fr Richard Mascarenhas SJ, Fr Franklin D'Souza, Fr Alphonse Lobo, Fr Simon Pinto, Fr Roshan Pinto, Fr Vinod SJ, Fr Eric Mathias SJ and Fr Mathew CMF concelebrated the Holy Eucharist.

After the Mass, Fr Franklin D'Souza led the healing prayers and benediction and priests prayed over the pilgrims.
