Mangaluru: Progressive farmer killed in mishap involving scooter-lorry

Mangaluru, Sep 6: In a tragic accident involving a lorry and a scooter, Chandrahass Shetty (67), a resident of Kallekaruguttu, Paivalike, Manjeshwar, lost his life near Manglanti Mosque, Manjanady, on September 5 evening.

Chandrahass Shetty, a progressive farmer, was on his way to Kallekaruguttu from his wife’s house in Harekal Debbeli when the lorry struck his scooter head-on.

Known for his active involvement in social activities and religious services, Shetty died on the spot due to the severe impact of the collision. The lorry, reportedly speeding from Nettipadu towards Natekal, caused the fatal crash.

The Mangaluru south traffic police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

    May his soul rest in peace - Om Shanthi. It is unfortunate to hear so many innocent lives being victims of reckless driving of bigger vehicles. But unfortunately we do not hear of any stringent actions being taken on these possible devilish drivers or the vehicle owners. Human lives are treated like we have no value at all.
