Udupi, Sep 10: Congress leader Prasad Raj Kanchan has strongly condemned the BJP's act of hitting the effigy of the chief minister with slippers, calling the behavior disgraceful.
Kanchan expressed his outrage, stating that the chief minister's office is one of respect, and creating an effigy to dishonor the leader by hitting it with slippers is entirely inappropriate. He further criticized the BJP MLAs who were present at the scene, remarking that instead of acting as bystanders, they should have stepped in to stop the act. However, their silence seemed to suggest approval of their workers' actions, which is not the right approach.
Kanchan also pointed out the increasing instances of violence and incendiary behavior from BJP members, warning that the Congress party is prepared to respond appropriately. He emphasized that the act of insulting the chief minister, a position of high office, has hurt many, prompting a police complaint, which has been duly registered.
While BJP leaders have attempted to misinterpret the incident, Kanchan said that the people of the district clearly understand the gravity of the situation. He concluded his statement by urging BJP members to cease their unruly behavior and instead focus on addressing the concerns of the public and contributing to the state's development.
