Bengaluru, Sep 10: St John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, in association with the Brigade Foundation, launched the state-of-the-art, 108-bed hospital – St. John’s Medical College Hospital unit at Brigade Meadows on Kanakapura Road here on Tuesday, September 10. This new facility is located within Brigade Meadows apartment and will provide comprehensive affordable healthcare services and diagnostics to urban and rural residents of the area from specialist doctors.
The hospital was inaugurated by Dinesh Gundu Rao, state minister for health & family welfare, and Ramalinga Reddy, state minister for transport & muzrai, in the presence of Rev Marx Andrew Thazhath, president of the CBCI & Arhbishop of Thrissur, Rev Victor Henry Thakur, chariman of the Governing Board, St Johns & Archbishop of Raipur, Rev Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bengaluru, Fr Jesudoss Rajamanickam, director, St John’s National Academy of Health Sciences and M R Jaishankar, chairman, Brigade Group, among other dignitaries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dinesh Gundu Rao praised this partnership of two giants of Karnataka, and said “I am proud to be a witness to this historic occasion. I am confident that this state-of-the-art hospital would give the highest quality care at affordable rates to all of South Bangalore.”
Fr Jesudoss R, director of St John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, emphasized the institution’s commitment to delivering affordable and accessible healthcare, saying, “This hospital will be a sign of service, where healing meets humanity, where care meets compassion, and where the values of both St John’s and Brigade come together to create a place of well-being for all."
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, M R Jaishankar, lifetime Trustee, Brigade Foundation & executive chairman, Brigade Group, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, stating, “This unique collaboration between Brigade Foundation and the not-for-profit institution, St John’s Medical College Hospital of the CBCI Society started with the setting up of a Health Centre with 10 beds in the Brigade Meadows campus during June 2020, at the peak of Covid.”
Rev Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bangalore Archdiocese said that this centre added to the IT angle of Bengaluru, to also provide quality and affordability, which many hospitals cannot offer.
Since June 2020, this centre has already served over 8000 plus patients. The hospital services will include all general services and also super specialties such as Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Pulmonary Medicine, and Urology among others. The hospital will provide all laboratory and imaging diagnostics, as well as Blood Storage, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, and Ambulance services.
The center will also offer specialized services including, Dermatology, Endocrinology, ENT, General Medicine, Family Medicine, Neurology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Intensive care (ICU), Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Surgery.
As the St John’s Health Center expands into the new 108-bed hospital, St John’s is committed to ensuring that our services meet the specific needs of the population in the area. Future plans include a Cath Lab, conducting regular outreach clinics in villages, establishing home collection services for laboratory samples and home delivery of medicines, as well as providing home based assessment and care for the elderly. There is a plan to introduce an evening specialty OPD for working professionals.
In addition to the hospital inaugurated on TUesday, Brigade has begun construction of another 108-bed, not-for-profit hospital in collaboration with St John’s in Hardware Park, Bengaluru North, marking a significant expansion in accessible healthcare for Bengaluru’s underserved populations.
