Bantwal: MLA Naik celebrates Vishwakarma community's contributions, govt projects at puja mahotsava

Bantwal, Sep 16: In a vibrant celebration of cultural pride and community achievements, MLA Rajesh Naik lauded the Vishwakarma community’s profound societal contributions during the Vishwakarma Puja Mahotsava in Bantwal.

Addressing a large gathering as the chief guest, Naik highlighted the government’s significant initiatives named after Vishwakarma, showcasing the community’s integral role in these high-profile projects and the pride they bring.

Former minister B Ramanath Rai underscored the vital role of Vishwakarmas in fostering a better society. Shiva Prasanna Acharya, assistant executive engineer of the Mangaluru minor irrigation department, remarked, "The creativity and cultural essence of Vishwakarmas are inherited traits."

Sudhakar Acharya, president of the Panchayat Association, chaired the event and noted, "The association’s success is a result of the hard work of the community’s elders."

Junior Engineer Krishna Pattar spoke about the current state of Vishwakarma heritage, urging the community to stay vigilant and proactive.

Yuvraj Acharya, president of the Guru Seva Parishad of the Annegundi Maha Institution in Bantwal, encouraged greater youth involvement in the association’s activities. Assistant horticultural officer Dinesh Acharya called for a change in the community’s mindset to better utilise government schemes.

Vidyarathnakar Acharya, president of the Vishwajyoti Women’s Association, requested support for the women’s group’s active initiatives. Religious secretary Narayana Acharya was also present on stage.

The event included honours for master craftsmen Harish Acharya and Kumaraswamy Sharma. Outstanding students were recognised and celebrated. Honorary president Manoj Acharya welcomed the attendees, Secretary Sandeep B Acharya delivered the opening speech, and cultural secretary Sunil Acharya offered the vote of thanks.

The event was supported by office-bearers Jayaprakash Acharya, Jayachandra Acharya, and Ashok Acharya.
