The lyrics already must be familiar to many as it is shared widely across the online community including Facebook within couple of days of its release on November 16. The song has an amazing 1.3 million hits on YouTube.

This super hit track is from Aishwaryaa Dhanush's tamil movie 3. The video of the song shows Dhanush, the son-in-law of superstar Rajinikanth, singing the song in a studio and composer Anirudh Ravichander on the keyboard while director Aishwarya R Dhanush and co-star Shruti Hassan watch along and give suggestions.

One of the reason for the song to be a major hit even among the non-tamilians is that the lyrics is half Tamil and half English.

The actor-singer Dhanush says is overwhelmed by the response to his song 'Kolaveri di', which has become a rage online, attracting fans like Amitabh Bachchan too.

"I am overwhelmed by the response. When we were recording the song, we never thought it would become such a rage. We didn't have any plans, any marketing strategy to make the song a hit. It just happened. My voice is full of mistakes and that's why it suits the song. I guess that worked for the song because it can be easily hummed", says the Dhanush.

Debutant music-director Anirudh Ravichander said they wanted to do something new with the song and it was Aishwarya who came up with the concept.
