Sullia: Subrahmanya Bandh on Made Snana a Huge Success

Daijiworld Media Network – Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Dec 6: The call for Subrahmanya bandh, given by devotees of Lord Subrahmanyeshwara Temple in protest against what they call as outside interferences in the affairs of the temple, efforts to meddle with sanctity and customs of the temple etc on Monday December 5 evoked total response.

Thousands of devotees, local people and students, who participated in the protest meeting organized on the occasion, placed a rightful demand for the continuance of the Made Made Snana ritual, which people perform in conformity with their religious vow as a gesture of gratitude to the Lord for favours granted, particularly curing skin-related diseases.

Veteran astrologer, Vidwan Kabyady Jayaram Acharya, delivering the main address at the meeting, criticized the leftists and so called intellectuals for poking their noses into unnecessary affairs, and termed them as remnants of the British administration era.

“A well-planned conspiracy to create a rift among the Hindu community has been hatched. People belonging to Malekudiya community, who enjoy a special status in the history and functioning of the temple, have always been staunch devotees of the Lord. They are backed by pure devotion towards the temple deity, and no one should try to incense them on this issue. Made Made Snana has not given rise to any problem to anyone. We at Subrahmanya have not found any adversity in this custom. How could people living far away have noticed them? Thousands of people have joined here to support the sanctity of the temple voluntarily. Made Made Snana is performed by devotees at their will and free of cost. Let the concerned conduct scientific tests and prove that it is harmful, before banning it. No one should test the tolerance levels of Hindus. This malicious propaganda appears to be aimed to stopping the exodus of devotees which the temple has been witnessing since the last many years,” he said.

Acharya called upon Hindus to work as a united force to protest against wrongs their religious centres may be compelled to endure. He said he had been brought to Subrahmanya  by his grandmother when he was 16, to seek the Lord’s blessings to cure the red blisters that had appeared on his body. He said he performed Made Made Snana and his ailment was cured, never to appear again till now.

Lakshmissha Gabladka also asked the people not to allow their faiths and beliefs to get dented by efforts being made by unconnected people. He advised the officials coming to the temple to study the history, belief systems, and faith of the people, before meddling with its affairs.

Sullia Block Congress president, Venkappa Gowda, expressed the opinion that orders which interfere with longstanding religious faiths of the devotees should never be issued.

A number of people including leaders from Dalit and Malekudiya communities participated, and supported the continuance of Made Made Snana ritual in the temple. Rajesh N S welcomed. Harish Injady proposed vote of thanks. Satish Koojugodu presented the programme.

Sir, respect your views. However, mutual respect of each other's religion is paramount. I humbly feel being an outsider to our religion, you may not be qualified or as knowledgeable to comment on the same. Similarly we Hindus have no right to comment or interfere with your great religion. So long as no one is forced into madesnana ritual, it should not be of anyone's concern.

As per Doc S.Kamath's scientific clarification if the moment we agree it then why we suppose to use the word 'Madey'.The problem lies with madey and the impression given us by media, NGOs and most of our Hindu brothers were that in this rituals only daliths were involved!

Dear Ashraf Habibi, Ganguli/Dammam.There is a lot of difference between a Blind Belief and Rituality .These kind of Tieing Bands etc are blind belief .Rituals if performed will give moral booster and madesnana is one such ritual not blind belief .Also note that Shri Kukke Subramanya Temple is one of the Most Sacred Temples which has given Confidence to Millions of People .Even Great Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar had come here when his Confidence was low and regained his Confidence .To give example in the same as you I had been to Kuwait in the year 2007 there I met one Kuwaiti I was shocked to here from him that they have found that Camels urine has cancer curing properties same as Cows unrine and they drink the camels urine .Scientifically speaking urine also contains thousands of Bacteria like E.Coli .Now what you say rather than rediculing they practise the same which Indians used to follow through Cows Urine

Dr.S.Kamath.I appreciate your comments and explanation with high respect to the feelings of my hindu brothers.See your own people call it '2011 and new era and globalisation etc. and what not..The DC send the message to ban this made made snana because some community under your own nose raised the issue and now it is beyond your control and you call it Consipiracy.I tell you what, you should unite and make only one statement then nobody will raise questions on these rituals.I have been to this temple and had food there and I have no issue what the people do there, please but do not call this as consiparacy because then what is the difference between people who are educated.

Request people, who do not have any idea on madasthana, not to interfere in such things. Let people follow whatever is as per their customs and traditions. Other community brethern do not need to poke their nose on issues pertaining to Hindus and make any comments. Today one section is targeting Madasthana as an issue, tomorrow they may tell Bootha Daiva as superstitious and so on and so forth. We Hindus know what is good for us and what is not. Please leave it to the people concerned to follow their traditions, be it in whichever Century we are today. Not all beliefs are superstitious.

Request to all, let us not listen to any politically motivated interventions on Made snana at Kukke Subrahmanya. This is an individual's belief, no one can question, if a person like Vivian Dubai, thinks that we are still watching B&W TV that is his perception, we will continue made snana in Kukke Subrahmanya. All intelectuals can divert thier effort on other needy issues in the state or country not here to create disharmony between class or caste.

All lot of Hindu rituals is a play of the mind...
Why should one do 40days of austerity to go to sabrimala...crazy some might say..why not watch colur tv, as Mr Vivian says..
Well plainly put rituals and their effect on the mind takes tme to uderstand...There are traditins in Hinduism that seeks to conquer the obnoxius and thus strenghten the self..
How can a Body put through contortions make it healthy..Well thats Yoga for you..and we recoginsed it only after a few Whites approved it..
I will also ask why fast for lent or Ramzan...enjoy colour TV..

So please give harmless traditions the respect they deserve..specially when they are harmless and do not read more into it than is necessary...
When we questions traditions there is a lot more than what meets the eye in every traditions. This is best left to Hindu religious leaders to decide whats best for them.

Dear Doctor S Kamath,,Shouldnt we enlighten our brothers with some scientific research/logic...Let me give you one incident happened in 1970's.One of the harijan lady in our village suffering from 'Elephantasis" firmly believed that "Bhoota" has entered in her leg.It was sounding logical to her..!!& she had tied many black threads to ward off Bhoota...If we had to let her believe then we are not doing justice..We took her to Doctors & her pain was reduced...

NOWADAYS EACH & EVERY ONE BLAMING HINDUISM & ITS CULTURE TO BECOME INT'L FIGURE .

MADESNANA WAS OLD PRACTICE & NO HARM TO ANYONE TILL DATE.

WHY DA VINCI CODE WAS OPPOSED BY CBHRISTAINS.

Congratulations people of Devine Kukke on your successful launching crusade against OUTSIDERS who are against age old ritual at the temple. You have won on first instance and Sree Kukke is with you in your fight against intruders into your 'Khandaani' matters.
Made snana is purely a spiritual belief like in any other places/religions.Let the outsiders not define the practice as to good or bad.Let them keep their houses in order.People have shown their solidarity and it is time for outsiders to keep away from Made snsna matters.Let the locals, purahits of the temple, government discuss and take decisions as they find fit keeping in mind the larger interest of the devotees of Sree Kukke Subramanya.

Do you remember Chandragutti... what was happening there and how the then Government controlled it in spite of strong resistance from devotees? so dont support old beliefs, now we are in 2011..it is India...everything is welcome here, as you know here people are giving heroic welcome to a man who releases from jail also...it happens only in India...so dont preach unnecessarily, definitively there will be a judiciary entry and finally it stops.I can say these are all not acceptable....

Recent Advances in Medical research has proved that Saliva contains a Immunoglobulin called IgA which protects against the Diseases .Stale food reacting on the Banana Plaintain leaves will it give any Skin disease curing effects ? Or is it a Sincere belief and faith that gives psychological effect and hence cures the skin diseases ? All these are Subjects of Research .we had the Prime minister who used to drink his own Urine ( Morarji Desai) We have even now Brahmins who every year has to drink a little and Cow urine and Cow dung while wearing sacred thread ( that is called Panchagavya ) .when it comes to Religious practise there is no caste .even Brahmins do Made Snana .After rolling over the Plaintain leaves with stale food all will be taking a bath with soap and water then why these people came from outside to disturb peace in DK ? For me it appears to be a Consipiracy .In any case I still Believe if everybody concerned feel it is not good there can be a research ,Swamijis can take a decission to put that on hold but not by creating a commotion and agitation against the spiritual belief
