TAYST AND tell: Bringing hygienic, authentic masalas to kitchens

Media Release

Mangaluru, Nov 8: In a world filled with mass-produced spice mixes, a refreshing new brand, Tayst and Tell, has emerged, capturing the essence of pure, homemade flavours. Founded in 2019 by a Mangalurean resident, Tayst AND tell represents more than just spice - it is a commitment to health, authenticity and the power of natural ingredients.

Driven by a personal loss and inspired by a desire for change, the founder explains, “I lost a very dear family member to cancer in 2017. She loved ready-made spice mixes, and her passing jolted me. It made me realize the need for a truly hygienic brand that prioritizes quality, free from artificial flavours, preservatives, or harmful colouring agents.” With this mission in mind, Tayst AND tell was born, dedicated to providing masalas made from only the very best ingredients with no shortcuts or fillers.

Operating with the help of family, the founder starts her day at 5 am hand-picking fresh ingredients for the mixes, before heading to the production unit. Each step, from roasting to grinding and sieving, is handled with precision and care to ensure that every batch is as authentic as it can be. By 4 pm the day’s work wraps up, leaving behind packets of flavour-filled masalas ready to transform kitchens and inspire home cooks.

Though many brands claim authenticity, Tayst AND tell sets itself apart by its unwavering commitment to quality. “When I say my brand is hygienic, I mean that every spice mix is 100% pure, with no artificial flavouring. We use ancestral and trusted recipes from friends and family, capturing the flavors of our heritage.”

Currently, Tayst AND tell offers 6 carefully curated spice blends, each created to enhance classic Mangalurean and other regional dishes. From Mangalurean chicken curry, chicken sukka to Udupi sambar, these masalas have already developed a dedicated following. Customers rave about the depth and freshness of the spices, with one saying, “I have never tasted such pure masalas. They have changed the way I cook.” The founder admits that in 3 years, she has received only one criticism - a testament to her high standards and quality control.

More than just a business, Tayst AND tell is a community-minded venture. Recognising the power of healthy food in institutions, the founder has even partnered with hospitals to provide affordable spice mixes for their pantries, with a minimal margin that aligns with her commitment to giving back to society.

The future is bright for Tayst AND tell. With plans to expand the range, and reach new markets, the founder remains grounded in her values: “My brand has no competitors. I’m competing only with my conscience and honesty. I want Tayst AND tell to be profitable, but never at the cost of someone’s health or trust.”

With a philosophy that prioritises purity over profit, Tayst AND tell is more than just a brand – It is a mission to restore trust and quality in the spices that make food memorable. As this Mangalorean entrepreneur brings her family’s legacy to the kitchens here, one thing is clear: Tayst AND tell is adding much more than flavor; it is adding integrity, authenticity, and a taste of home.
