Moodbidri, Nov 21: The YRC annual special camp 2024 was held at St Thomas Higher Primary School, Alangar, Moodabidri.
The camp began on November 15 with the inauguration programme graced by Fr Arun Wilson Lobo, principal of Padua College as the president of the programme, Fr Melwyn Noronha, the parish priest of Holy Rosary church Alangar, vas the inaugurator. The chief guest for the programme was Dr Gayatri N, YRC nodal officer, Mangalore University. The guests of honour included PK Thomas, member of the municipal corporation, Alphonsa, headmistress of St Thomas School, Sr Sunitha, superior, Good Sheperd Convent, Alangar, Edward Serrao, vice president, PPP, Alangar, Lawrence Anil D'Cunha, secretary PPP, Alangar.
The camp aimed to promote social service, community welfare, leadership skills, and personal development among participants. The camp served as a platform to engage in various activities related to first aid, visit to Mount Mary hospital, service at Mount Mary Ashram, disaster management, team building and environmental sustainability. Additionally, it focused on fostering teamwork and cooperation among young volunteers.
The camp was held for three days which served to be quite fruitful and deserving.
The camp was attended by 44 YRC volunteers, YRC programme officer Prof Roshan Santhumayor, YRC assistant programme officer Zeena Cornelio and Reshma D’Souza, Dpt of languages attended the camp and filled joy amongst the students and instilled in them the voice of service of humanity.
The camp concluded on November 18 with Santhosh D’Souza, as the chief guest for the valedictory programme. The camp not only helped volunteers develop valuable skills but also instilled a sense of social responsibility and service.
