Udupi, Nov 21: Kasturba Hospital, a premier healthcare institution in Manipal, marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its newly renovated medical oncology Outpatient Department (OPD) and chemotherapy day care centre at the Shirdi Sai Baba cancer block.
The upgraded facilities feature comfortable consultation area with a well-designed waiting lounge, ensuring a comfortable experience for patients and visitors. The day care centre is equipped with state-of-the-art amenities to administer chemotherapy and other specialized oncology treatments efficiently.
Dr HS Ballal, pro-chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), inaugurated the advanced day care centre. In his address, he emphasized the institution's commitment to providing cutting-edge medical care and enhancing patient comfort.
Dr Sharath K Rao, pro vice-chancellor (health sciences), MAHE, inaugurated the revamped OPD and lauded the comprehensive approach taken to improve the infrastructure and services.
Providing insights into the upgraded facilities, Dr Karthik Udupa and Dr Ananth Pai, professors in the department of medical oncology, elaborated on the range of services and the enhanced patient care capabilities now available in the renovated spaces.
The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including Dr Padmaraj Hegde, dean of Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Manipal; Dr Anand Venugopal, chief operating officer of teaching hospitals, MAHE; Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent of Kasturba Hospital; and Dr Naveen Salins, associate dean and coordinator of the Manipal Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre (MCCCC).
