Mangaluru Nov 22: The church recently celebrated the feast of presentation of Mary in the Temple and the sisters of charity exalts the Lord, for the great event of the foundation of their congregation through St Bartolomea Capitanio – the foundress, and St Vincenza Gerosa her companion who continued it. During this year, 37 young sisters from different parts of Europe, Africa, and Asia have taken a courageous step to offer their lives totally as an oblation to the Lord, pledging themselves to be a sign of God’s love in the Church and in the world.

The Guardian Angel Church, Angelore witnessed the Perpetual Profession of 2 young sisters. It was truly a touching moment as Sr Ancil Daisy and Sr Pearl with firm determination uttered their ‘Yes’ to the Lord, promising before the public to live their consecration with fidelity. Dr Aloysius P D’Souza - bishop Emeritus who officiated at the Eucharistic Sacrifice praised the daring step of these two sisters, inviting them to show to the world that they belong to Christ through their life witness.

The con-celebration of the Eucharist by many priests brought festive mood, enabling the assembly for a meaningful celebration and a spiritual renewal. The moment of entrusting them to the blessings and prayers of all the Saints during the Litany through the gesture of complete prostration on the ground evoked a sense of total abandonment in the hands of the Lord to be used as He wills. The parents, dear ones of the two sisters rejoiced at their daughter’s commitment and joy found in self-offering to God’s Kingdom.

During the felicitation programme the provincial superior Sr Irene Menezes recognized their undaunted spirit to respond to God’s call in the present alluring world, honored them welcoming them warmly to their Institute family. Wishing well to each one she said “Don’t be afraid to shine like the pearl in the hands of God, Do not hesitate to become the fragrance of God’s love in the world”. She congratulated the parents of the sisters who have put a solid foundation of faith in the sisters and today they turned out to be a great blessing to the family and others. Joy was so evident in the faces of Sr Pearl and Sr Ancil Daisy and the entire assembly witnessed God’s faithful love and his wonders who chose these sisters for His mission.
