Mangaluru, Nov 7: The kindergarten section of Lourdes Central School celebrated its annual day on Saturday, December 7, at Bejai Church Hall. The event, themed ‘My colourful world,’ was a vibrant celebration of the tiny tots' creativity, talent, and innocence.

The programme commenced with the chief guest, Dr Chandana Pai, pediatric hemato-oncologist from Fr Muller's Hospital, Mangaluru, being escorted by the school band to the hall. The other dignitaries included manager Dr John Baptist Saldanha, principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, vice principals Belita Mascarenhas and Anitha Thomas, Ashok Pinto, vice president, and Cynthia Avitha Pinto, the secretary of Bejai parish pastoral parishad.

The programme began on a devotional note, with a prayer invoking God's blessings. The guests and parents were warmly welcomed with a musical welcome dance, which set the tone for the rest of the programme. A little kindergarten students beaming with confidence, delivered the welcome address which was highly applauded by the audience. Kindergarten coordinator Lydia D'Souza then introduced the esteemed chief guest, Dr Chandana Pai, who was later felicitated by the dignitaries with a memento as a token of love and respect.

Chief guest Dr Chandana Pai, in her address, emphasized the importance of nurturing young minds and fostering their creativity. She praised the efforts of the school in providing a holistic education and encouraged the students to explore their passions and interests. Dr Pai also spoke about the importance of good parenting, emphasizing the need for parents to encourage their children, provide them with good eating habits, and take care of their health. She stressed that parents should avoid comparing their children with others and instead focus on nurturing their unique talents and abilities.

Dr John Baptist Saldanha, in his presidential address, highlighted the significance of the theme ‘My colourful world.’ He encouraged the students to appreciate the beauty and diversity of the world around them and to strive for excellence in all their endeavours. He also emphasized the importance of values and morals in shaping the young minds. He also thanked the parents for accompanying their tiny tots to the programme and encouraged them to collaborate with the school and management committee to instil discipline and cultural values in the children. The school annual report for 2024-2025 was presented by principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, highlighting the achievements and progress of the school.

The cultural programme that followed, was a vibrant celebration of the theme ‘My colourful world.’ The little Lourdites from the kindergarten brought the theme to life through a kaleidoscope of colours, showcasing their talents through a series of dances, dramas and songs. From the bright hues of a rainbow to the soft pastels of a sunset, each performance was a masterpiece of colour and creativity, reflecting the beauty and diversity of our world through a vibrant fashion show. The programme was a true testament to the imagination and creativity of the young students.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by the tiny tots, who confidently expressed gratitude to the guests, parents, and teachers for their support and encouragement.

The event was a grand success, and a memorable event to cherish for the kindergarten students, parents, and staff of Lourdes Central School.
